Student Attendance Teams

Minneapolis Public Schools takes an innovative approach to improving attendance, by empowering students to actively participate in building the culture of their school to positively impact student attendance and a sense of belonging. With support from a state attendance pilot fund, teams of students and adult staff meet at least bi-weekly to identify, problem-solve, and implement attendance solutions. Students are given grade level appropriate student attendance information, and are charged with contributing to the creation of a positive school climate that fosters student engagement in learning and regular attendance. The below resources can be used to guide similar initiatives in other districts and schools.
